Lo IAME Winter Cup di Valencia è stato teatro di gare emozionanti per quattro dei nostri talenti, Vanesa, Benjamin, Nilas e Markas. Nel frattempo, Zack continua il suo percorso di crescita nel Open KartMag a Salbris.

Zack Zhu – P7 nel KartMag Championship a Salbris, Cat. ROTAX Junior
Zack ha confermato le ottime impressioni del debutto con un altro weekend molto competitivo, dove nelle prove ha registrato ottimi tempi. Nelle manches ha mostrato tutta la sua costanza tagliando il traguardo sempre nella top 10. In finale ha dimostrato un ritmo eccellente, ma una sfortunata penalità gli ha impedito di salire sul podio. Nonostante ciò si sta affermando come uno dei protagonisti della categoria nel suo anno di esordio.

Vanesa Silkunaite – P24 nello IAME Winter Cup a Valencia, Cat. X30 Junior
Vanesa ha cominciato il weekend con entusiasmo, piazzandosi costantemente tra i primi dieci nelle prove libere. La qualifica non ha dato i risultati sperati, ma la sua abilità nei sorpassi le ha permesso di compiere rimonte incredibili nelle prime due manches e nella Super Heat, dove ha terminato addirittura in decima posizione. Purtroppo nell’ultima manche ha avuto un problema tecnico, che ha compromesso la posizione di partenza in finale. Un ulteriore problema le ha impedito di compiere un’altra rimonta, ma la velocità e la grinta mostrate fanno ben sperare per il resto della stagione.

Benjamin Westwood – NQ nello IAME Winter Cup a Valencia, Cat. X30 Junior
Benjamin ha dovuto adattarsi ad un nuovo team e ad un nuovo ambiente, venendo dalla ROK, ma è stato veloce già dai primi test. L’inesperienza in qualifica gli è costata qualche posizione, che a causa di alcuni problemi tecnici non ha potuto recuperare nelle manches. Sfortunatamente questi problemi non gli hanno permesso di qualificarsi per la finale, ma comunque ha mostrato un’ottima velocità e soprattutto una grande resilienza. Siamo certi che potrà presto lottare per le posizioni che contano.

Nilas Malik – P14 nello IAME Winter Cup a Valencia, Cat. X30 Junior
Nilas è appena entrato nell’agenzia, ma ha già dimostrato enorme velocità, grinta e perfezionismo. In qualifica ha ottenuto un’ottima pole position nella sua batteria, che nella prima manches ha convertito in una buona P3. Le altre manches sono state rovinate da un problema elettrico e da una penalità per il musetto, perciò è partito in finale dal 19° posto, anziché dalle prime file. Ma non si è perso d’animo, ha compiuto una rimonta straordinaria e ha tagliato il traguardo in terza posizione, purtroppo diventata 14ª per via di una nuova penalità per il musetto, caduto per le molteplici battaglie fatte per recuperare le tante posizioni. Un risultato che non rispecchia l’enorme potenziale del pilota danese che sarà sicuramente uno dei protagonisti della categoria.

Markas Silkunas – NQ nello IAME Winter Cup a Valencia, Cat. X30 Senior
Markas ha cominciato il fine settimana con un ottimo passo, sempre tra i migliori cinque nelle prove libere. Purtroppo la qualifica non è andata secondo i piani e la difficile posizione di partenza ha reso quasi impossibile ottenere buoni risultati nelle manches. Nella Super Heat ha dimostrato tutto il suo talento, sorpassando 12 kart e chiudendo a ridosso della top 10. Purtroppo non è stato abbastanza per qualificarsi per la finale, ma già dalla prossima gara sfrutterà le lezioni apprese a Valencia per tornare a competere per le posizioni che contano.

JULIA ANGELARD RETURNS TO LONATO FOR A ROUND OF THE WSK SUPER MASTER SERIES

  • The JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing competitor will appear in Lonato as part of the third round of the WSK Super Master Series.
  • The renewed start on Lake Garda will allow Julia Angelard to prepare as best as possible for the Champions of the Future Academy series that is about to begin.

Although only two weeks have passed since her previous visit to the South Garda Karting track in Lonato, the Minardi Management protégé is once again returning to Italian soil. The third round of the WSK Super Master Series coming up next weekend will allow Julia Angelard to prepare thoroughly for the challenge ahead of her, the first round of the Champions of the Future Academy scheduled for 28.02.-02.03. in Portimão, Portugal.

Testing herself among the best
The WSK Super Master Series round gives Julia Angelard an additional chance to test herself on a racetrack she knows very well, among the best competitors from around the world. This time, the Polish woman competing in the OKN Junior category will compete in a go-kart, with a different engine, more powerful than in the ROK series. Thanks to her fondness for the track and her excellent orientation in its thread, the teenage competitor will spend her 13th birthday, which falls next Saturday, on the racetrack. There, she will be able to test herself against over 400 registered competitors from the world’s top, before she starts the competition in the 2025 season, competing not only in the Champions of the Future Academy and ROK Italia series, but also in the Polish Karting Championships.

Training above all
“I treat the upcoming competition primarily as additional training before leaving for Portimão. I know that during the WSK round there will certainly be a large representation of strong competitors, so I want to test myself among the best. I don’t have high expectations for myself though – I’ll be happy if I make it to the finals like last time. And I really hope the weather will be much better than last time” – admits the JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing competitor.

JULIA ANGELARD, a nearly 13-year-old karting competitor, a protégé of Minardi Management, a member of the PZM junior national karting team in the 2025 season. Representing the colors of JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing, in the 2025 season she will compete in the Polish Karting Championships, in the Italian ROK Cup Italia series and in the international Champions of the Future Academy program, supported by F1 Academy – a series accompanying Formula 1. In July 2024, she was the only Polish woman to be among the 20 competitors who appeared in the Iron Dames Young Talents shootout finals.

She began competing in karting at the age of 4. She began her professional starts in the Rotax Max Challenge Poland series in the years 2017-2022 in the MicroMax and Minimax categories. In 2023, at the age of 11, she started in the ROK Cup Poland in the Junior category. In September 2023, she made her international debut as part of the ROK Superfinal and ROK Cup Italia, where she also appeared in 2024, becoming the fastest and highest ranked competitor and advancing 17 positions in one of the races.

STRONG START WITH US RACING – LUKA SAMMALISTO IMPRESSES IN PORTIMÃO

Luka Sammalisto kicked off his 2025 season with an impressive debut for US Racing at the Formula Winter Series in Portimão. After joining the championship-winning team run by Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher, Luka quickly adapted to his new environment, showing both speed and consistency throughout the weekend.

Building Momentum in Qualifying
Luka demonstrated steady progress during Thursday and Friday’s test sessions, culminating in a P4 finish on Friday afternoon. In Saturday’s qualifying, he secured P6 for Race 1 with a time of 1:45.999 (+0.466). His second-fastest lap also placed him P6 for Race 2. Luka qualified P8 in the second session with a time of 1:45.947 (+0.524), setting him up well for the weekend’s races.

Race Recap: Consistency and Growth
Race 1: Luka made an immediate impact, gaining a position on the opening lap. With strong pace, he overtook Red Bull Junior Fionn McLaughlin and soon closed in on his US Racing teammate Edu Robinson. After a well-executed pass, Luka crossed the finish line in P3, securing his first podium of the season. Unfortunately, a five-second time penalty for track limits dropped him to P10.

Race 2: The second race was dominated by two extended safety car periods, leaving little room for overtaking. Despite the limited action, Luka maintained his starting position and benefited from penalties ahead, finishing in P4—his best result of the weekend.

Race 3: Sunday’s race presented tricky conditions after a pre-race shower. While some drivers opted for slicks, most, including Luka, started on wet tires. After an early red flag and restart behind the safety car, Luka capitalized on the gaps that opened ahead. He overtook Maximilian Popov, closed a three-second gap to teammate Edu Robinson, and ultimately finished in P6. Post-race penalties for other drivers promoted Luka to P5.

“It was a positive start to the season. We showed good pace, learned a lot, and I’m confident heading into the next round in Barcelona.”

Looking Ahead
Luka’s strong start with US Racing is a promising sign for the upcoming season. With valuable experience gained and solid results in the bag, the focus now shifts to the final round of the Formula Winter Series in Barcelona, followed by preparations for the Italian F4 Championship.

JULIA ANGELARD READY FOR KARTING COMPETITIONS IN 2025

  • In early February, the ROK Cup Winter Trophy 2025 will take place at the South Garda Karting track in Lonato.
  • Among the competitors who will represent Poland at this prestigious karting competition, Julia Angelard, driving for JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing, will also appear.

The South Garda Karting track in Lonato is one of the most famous and popular karting tracks in the world. It is here, on Lake Garda, that many competitions of various karting series take place every year – both ROK Cup Italia, WSK and ROK Superfinal. There is not a day that this facility is not besieged by competitors testing their skills on Italian soil. There are also several karting factories nearby, which additionally increases the attractiveness of the track – factory teams often come here to test drivers or equipment. However, at the beginning of February, the cream of the crop of karting drivers from around the world will appear on the track, and the reason is obvious – the competition as part of the ROK Cup Winter Trophy 2025.

Winter Trophy at the beginning of the season
ROK Cup Winter Trophy 2025 is a single, winter round, organized annually before the start of the ROK Cup Italia season. This is one of the most important moments for competitors, allowing them to really test themselves on the track before the start of the competition in a given year. The two-day competition in the ROK Junior category is full of practice sessions, 6-minute qualifying sessions and heats, or qualifying races over a distance of 8 laps. The 36 best competitors on the last day take part in the final races over a distance of 16 laps.

Competitors taking part in the 2025 ROK Cup Winter Trophy will compete in seven categories. In addition to ROK Junior, in which Julia Angelard, who is under the care of Minardi Management, will also be present in the Mini ROK, Mini ROK U10, Senior ROK, Super ROK, Expert ROK and Shifter ROK categories.

Give it your all
“I am very excited about the upcoming start at the South Garda Karting track in Lonato. I know this track well and it is one of my favorites. With the right precision, it is easy to overtake here, and the corners are really demanding. My favorite corner is the one «by the mechanics». We haven’t been idle so far and in 2025 alone I already have a few training days behind me on this track. I can’t wait to see what this year’s competition in the Winter Trophy will bring, but I will definitely give it my all”, emphasizes Julia Angelard.

A solid start to the 2025 season
For Julia Angelard, competing in the ROK Cup Winter Trophy will be just the first point on her list of competitions this year in which she will take part. The nearly 13-year-old competitor will also appear in the Polish Karting Championship, will start in all races of the ROK Cup Italia 2025 season and will debut in the Champions Of The Future Academy series, which allows competitors to be noticed by the F1 Academy, and thus by Formula 1 teams looking for juniors worthy of care and a training program.

In two weeks, the Minardi Management protégé will have another opportunity to compete on the track in Lonato – the third round of the WSK Super Master Series. From there she will move directly to Portimão for the first round of the Champions of the Future Academy.

MAYA WEUG PREMIATA AGLI AUTOSPORT AWARDS

La pilota della Ferrari Driver Academy ha ricevuto il prestigioso riconoscimento della testata britannica mercoledì sera a Londra per aver conquistato il terzo posto nel campionato F1 Academy 2024. Insieme a lei, Abbi Pulling e Doriane Pin hanno ricevuto rispettivamente il primo e il secondo premio.

Maya ha vissuto un inizio di stagione impegnativo, con solo due podi conquistati in sei gare. Ma la sua abilità nella messa a punto è stata decisiva per cambiare passo, e dal round di Zandvoort è salita regolarmente sul podio. La vittoria nell’ultima gara ad Abu Dhabi è il punto di partenza perfetto per puntare al campionato nella prossima stagione.

Il giusto riconoscimento per il suo duro lavoro è arrivato mercoledì sera, quando ha ricevuto il trofeo per il terzo posto nella serata degli Autosport Awards, davanti allo sguardo dei più grandi nomi del mondo del motorsport.

Giovanni Minardi: «Sono contento che la stagione di Maya inizi con il premio per il terzo posto per la stagione 2024 della F1 Academy. Sono orgoglioso di poter lavorare con lei e sono certo che in questa stagione si potrà lottare per la vittoria del campionato. Maya è una pilota che vedo meglio in cima al podio, perché è molto veloce e competitiva. Faremo di tutto per vincere insieme a lei quest’anno».

NEFELI KOSMOPOULOU TORNA IN COSMOSRALLY NEL 2025

La nostra tredicenne talento femminile greca inizierà la stagione di gare del 2025 tra poche settimane alla gara di apertura del Champions of the Future Championship a Portimao. Questo campionato sarà il focus principale di Nefeli quest’anno nella categoria OKNJ, ma dimostrerà le sue abilità anche nei campionati italiano e greco, così come in alcune gare WSK.

Le verrà fornito un telaio Energy Corse, con cui ha già familiarità ed è riconosciuto come uno dei migliori nel mondo del karting. Pertanto, possiamo aspettarci che offra una stagione di successo ed emozionante.

Giovanni Minardi: «Finalmente quest’anno siamo riusciti ad organizzare insieme alla famiglia un calendario pieno di gare per Nefeli. Sono riusciti a trovare una soluzione con la scuola, il che ci permette di disputare un numero maggiore di gare rispetto alla stagione appena conclusa. Il suo programma principale sarà il Champions of The Future Academy Program, dove siamo certi che potrà ottenere dei buonissimi risultati, mentre tutte le altre gare saranno prese come un allenamento per le gare che contano. Speriamo che la ciliegina sulla torta possa essere la partecipazione alla Coppa del Mondo della categoria OKNJ, che si terrà a Cremona nel weekend del 28 Settembre. Auguro un grandissimo in bocca al lupo a Nefeli ed al suo team».

Nefeli Kosmopoulou: «Nella stagione 2025 correrò con il team Cosmosrally ed utilizzeremo il materiale Energy Corse. Infine, i campionati a cui parteciperemo sono il Champions of the Future Academy Program, il WSK, il Campionato Italiano ed il Campionato Greco. Sono molto contenta che la stagione stia finalmente per cominciare, non vedo l’ora di iniziare».

TARIQ SOOFI ENTRA NELLA MINARDI MANAGEMENT

Il pilota classe 2015 nativo del Bahrain si affida alla Minardi Management per realizzare il suo sogno di diventare pilota di Formula 1. Un sogno che ha toccato con mano durante il Gran Premio del Bahrein del 2022, dove ha incontrato piloti del calibro di Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez e Lando Norris.

Nonostante la giovane età, Tariq si sta già affermando tra i più interessanti talenti emergenti del Medio Oriente. Nel 2025 continuerà nel Rotax Bahrain nella categoria Micro Max, ma correrà anche nel ROK Cup Italy Series, categoria Mini U10, in modo da prepararsi al grande salto in Europa.

Giovanni Minardi: «Sono estremamente felice di essere riuscito a trovare un accordo con Tariq e la sua famiglia. Lo abbiamo voluto fortemente perché crediamo che abbia tanto talento e possa fare molto bene nel prossimo futuro. Tariq è molto giovane, dieci anni appena compiuti, ma sta facendo già vedere il suo valore in pista. Per ora lo ha dimostrato solamente nel Campionato Rotax in Bahrain, ma presto lo vedremo correre anche qui in Italia in qualche gara del Campionato ROK Cup Italy Series. In questo modo potrà iniziare a conoscere le piste dove presto correrà per disputare i campionati importanti. Devo ringraziare Tariq, perché il weekend scorso, appena dopo aver siglato l’accordo con la Minardi Management, mi ha regalato una bella vittoria».

Tariq Soofi: «Sono contento di lavorare con Giovanni e la Minardi Management. Mi metterò alla prova e ci metterò tutto il mio impegno per migliorare le mie abilità, la mia tecnica, la velocità e il lavoro di squadra. Voglio imparare ed accumulare più esperienza possibile per diventare un pilota professionista ed essere in Formula 1. Renderò orgoglioso il Bahrain!»

INIZIA LA STAGIONE 2025 PER LA MINARDI MANAGEMENT IN PISTA CON ZACK ZHU NEL WSK SUPER MASTER SERIES A LA CONCA

Zack ha dato il via alla stagione 2025 alla WSK Super Master Series, debuttando nella categoria OKNJ a La Conca.

Nonostante fosse la sua prima sessione di qualifica nella categoria Junior, ha ottenuto un’impressionante P5 in classifica, dimostrando il suo forte ritmo sul giro singolo. Sfortunatamente, un problema meccanico lo ha costretto a partire per la prima manche dall’ultimo posto, ed è rimasto coinvolto in un incidente con altri kart alla curva 3. Nella seconda manche, Zack è partito forte, ma alla fine ha commesso alcuni errori che gli hanno impedito di ottenere una classifica migliore della P14. Nell’ultima manche, tuttavia, Zack è nuovamente partito molto bene, ha mantenuto la posizione e ha ottenuto un ottimo piazzamento in P6.

Questi risultati hanno fatto sì che Zack iniziasse il prefinale dalla P18. Partire dall’esterno è sempre rischioso a La Conca a causa della velocità alla curva uno. Ciò ha causato qualche problema davanti a lui in pista, ed è stato sbalzato sull’erba, ma è riuscito a riprendersi e a reagire per poi finire in P19.

In finale, Zack ha fatto un’ottima partenza e ha dimostrato di poter mantenere la posizione con i leader. Purtroppo, il suo potenziale non si è tradotto nel risultato che voleva, ma sta già lavorando per imparare dai suoi errori e punta a tornare ancora più forte a Salbris.

NILAS MALIK ENTRA NELLA MINARDI MANAGEMENT

Il dodicenne danese ha dimostrato durante la stagione 2024 di avere un talento eccezionale. La sua grande velocità, unita ad un enorme entusiasmo e forza di volontà, lo rendono il profilo ideale per la Minardi Management.

La decisione di puntare su Nilas è maturata durante lo IAME Warriors Finals a Zuera. Nonostante sia arrivato 24°, ha dimostrato di avere una velocità sensazionale, riuscendo addirittura a registrare tempi migliori dei piloti di testa.

Giovanni Minardi: «Siamo molto felici di aver trovato l’accordo con Nilas e la sua famiglia. Dopo averlo osservato nel 2024, con tempi in pista estremamente veloci, abbiamo provato a portarlo nella nostra agenzia. Questo perché non ci sono molti piloti che hanno il talento naturale per andare forte, come ha fatto lui l’anno scorso, anche con poca esperienza. Quest’anno Nilas avrà un calendario fitto d’impegni, che presto riveleremo. Siamo certi che potrà essere uno dei principali protagonisti della sua categoria. Non vediamo l’ora d’iniziare a lavorare con lui in pista e di dargli tutto il nostro supporto per spingere la sua carriera sportiva al massimo».

Nilas Malik: «Notizie entusiasmanti: mi unisco a Minardi Management! Sono entusiasta di annunciare che collaborerò con Minardi Management! Hanno lavorato con alcuni dei migliori nel motorsport e non vedo l’ora di imparare da loro e portare le mie corse al livello successivo. Questo è un passo importante nella mia carriera nel karting e non vedo l’ora di affrontare le sfide che mi attendono! FRANÇOIS DARIO KERDAL LASCIA LA MINARDI MANAGEMENT

Il tredicenne franco-italiano non sarà un pilota della Minardi Management a partire dalla stagione 2025. Da quando è entrato nell’agenzia nel 2023, François ha vissuto alti e bassi, ma è cresciuto molto sia dal punto di vista sportivo, che da quello personale. Gli auguriamo il meglio per il prosieguo della sua carriera.

Giovanni Minardi: «Sono molto dispiaciuto che François non farà più parte della Minardi Management. Abbiamo lavorato per un anno e mezzo a stretto contatto con lui e la sua famiglia per farlo crescere sia sul piano sportivo che su quello dell’immagine, perciò è un peccato che si chiuda anticipatamente la collaborazione. La stagione appena conclusa non è andata come speravamo, ma verso la fine si erano visti dei buoni progressi che avevano generato ottimismo per la stagione che sta per cominciare. Sono certo che nel team in cui l’abbiamo inserito, prima di chiudere la collaborazione, avrà la possibilità di fare bene e mettersi in mostra. Gli facciamo un grande in bocca al lupo per il suo futuro».
