MAYA WEUG GAINS CONFIDENCE AHEAD OF JEDDAH F1 ACADEMY ROUND
The Ferrari Driver Academy driver completed nearly 1000 km over three days of testing on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, gaining crucial confidence ahead of the upcoming round of the F1 Academy championship.
Day 1
On the first day, Maya began to get to grips with what’s considered one of the most challenging racetracks on the calendar. The correlation between MP’s top-level simulator and the real circuit proved strong, allowing Maya to focus immediately on the planned testing program.
Day 2
The second day brought greater satisfaction in terms of performance, as Maya was able to set very competitive lap times right from the morning session. In the second session — where conditions were closer to the ones the drivers will face during qualifying — she took the headlines by clocking the fastest time overall.
Day 3
On the third and final day, Maya focused on race pace. Since both races will take place in full daylight — with high temperatures making tire management particularly tough — it was crucial to complete the program during the morning session. In the afternoon, she once again topped the timesheets, setting a best lap of 2:05.405, heading into race weekend with a great boost of confidence.
Next Stop: Jeddah – Round 2
Despite the complexity of the circuit, Maya feels ready to push to the limit. Last year, she finished both races on the podium, and this time, the goal is clear: to secure her first win of the season.
